Thursday 22nd May Judges 5.16-31
Qn. 2, 3
“Curse Meroz, says the angel of the LORD, curse its inhabitants thoroughly,…(23): Deborah was the kind of person who believed in others and accepted to work with them. She could appreciate those who did well and could never take all the credit alone, whereas she could also rebuke those who did wrong (16-18). She could never assume that the battle was under her control; instead she attributed it all to God. Four tribes stayed back and could not go to battle with Deborah (17). What could have been the reason behind that? Could it have been due to the following: 1) Lack of faith in God? 2) Lack of passion and earnestness? 3) Fear of the enemy or death? 4) Avoidance of breaching the agreement they had made with their neighbors? (16-17). Take some time to think about it also. Those who went for battle were used of God. Sisera’s war chariots were not used in any way. Heaven came to their rescue, as God sent plenty of rain to Kishon and filled it up, and the chariots were swept away. Some Christians lose today’s battles because of not taking God as their leader. Involving God gives great strength and calmness (Is. 30.15). Prayer Request: Pray for Christians to fight bravely, allowing Jesus at the frontline, as they all accept one another and work together. Song 205 (Praises).
