Tuesday 27th May Judges 8.1-21
Qn. 5
“God has given into your hands the prince of Midian,…. Then their anger against him subsided when he said this (3): The accusation of the men of Ephraim for not having called them to go to fight was comprehensible (1). Instead of arguing with them, he talked to them respectfully using adequate words to appease their anger. He reminded them of their previous courageous deeds, and confessed to them that they were the ones who killed the chiefs of the Midianites. During quarrelsome times, let’s always ask God for words that restores peace among the people involved (Pro. 15.1). As Christians, we have to resolve the conflicts immediately they arise, right before they deepen up. And Gideon went up by the way of the tent,……for the army felt secure (11): The Midianites fled Gideon to the wilderness hoping that he could not follow them there. Anyone at war must always keep watch over anything even when he or she may be likely to win. For any simple mistake; the enemy may reverse the order and beat you. Gideon wasn’t discouraged by the tiredness of his men, hunger, thirst, denial for water; and all discouragement of his people who wondered whether it will be finished. Since he knew God, he gave him victory, and indeed he fulfilled. Prayer Request: Pray for all the leaders to make the decisions that bring God’s blessing to the nation and its inhabitants.
