May 20

Qn. 2

And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the LORD after Ehud died (1): The evil deeds of the Israelites kept them in slavery for 20 years. They cried out to the LORD, and using Deborah, a lady who was a judge and a prophet at the same time. We find in the Bible several examples of brave women. Can you remember any? Let’s always avoid judging others because the LORD shows no favoritism among people. The LORD used Deborah to back up Barak and his men (14), and they defeated Sisera who had more powerful weapons. “Turn aside, my lord; turn aside to me; do not be afraid.”…(18): In the war in which the LORD is the army commander, you also find Jael, who alone managed to kill Sisera, and spared the lives of a lot of people that one could have killed. Sisera expected to be secure where he had fled for these reasons: 1) He was a friend to Heber, Jael’s husband; 2) No man was allowed to get into a woman’s house, so no one could expect him to flee to that place. Consider: True refuge can merely be found in the LORD. Song 167 (Praises).
