Friday 30th May Psalm 94.1-23
Qn. 3
They kill the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless; (6): Some commentators suggest that this psalm could have been David’s song, as a call for rescue on behalf of the righteous and the weak who had been subjected to injustice. Could be that the predators were from foreign nations or else the Israelites who neither cared nor protected the weak as per Moses’ laws (Ex. 23.9-12). On the judgment day, Jesus will judge us according to how much we shall have cared and protected the weak (Mat. 25.34-36). If the LORD had not been my help, my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence (17): The psalmist here gives his testimony about God’s protection upon him. He is not the only one who attributes his life to God’s protection, since even the psalmist of psalm 30 recognizes that his life depends on God’s favor upon him (Ps. 30.1-4). Prayer Request: Pray for those people who think that they are self-dependent, that the Holy Spirit may enlighten them, so that they may understand that God is the provider of their breath of life.
