Saturday 31st May Psalm 95.1-11
Qn. 3
Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! (1): Some commentators assert that this song was sung when the Israelites were on their way from exile, as they were reaching Jerusalem, and possibly at the dedication of the second temple (Ez. 6.16). However the Hebrew manuscripts, those of the Syrians as well the Ethiopians indicate that this could have been David’s song. This psalmist is calling upon the people to sing to God and give a joyful shout to him. There isn’t anything that should stop a Christian from singing to the LORD. Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, (8): In the wildersness, the Israelites grumbled against Moses and God, lost their faith in God who by his mighty hand, had taken them out of Pharaoh’s hands in Egypt, and they ended up wishing to return to Egypt (Num. 20.1-5). Therefore, the psalmist is warning the people of his era, not to be like their ancestors, who annoyed God by their unbelief. Prayer Request: Pray for those people who are still under the bondage of generational curses, to be able to break up with them.
