Saturday 10th May Galatians 4.21-31
Qn. 1
But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman was born through promise (23): The son born of a slave woman was born through normal means because the parents were still young enough for the birth to be hoped for, whereas the son born of a free woman was born when the parents had become too old to expect it. God revived their likely non-functional cells, and the child was born by a miracle. God knows your life entirely since he is the one who created you. But the Jerusalem above if free, and she is our mother (26): The birth of Isaac is compared the second birth for Christians. We have been born not according to the law, but according to the long-lasting promise God gave to Abraham that he was to become father of a multitude of nations (Gen. 17.5). Those people who are under the law are compared with Ishmael, the child of the slave woman who cannot inherit with the child of the promise (30). Prayer: Father, always remind us that we are children of the promise, so that we may avoid being enslaved by law. Song 28 (Salvation).
