Qn. 3

And pull down the altar of Baal that your father has,…(25): It wasn’t so easy for Gideon to demolish Baal’s altar as he was still a little boy, and his people were determinedly serving that god. Fighting Baal was like being against the nation’s leadership at that time. Yet Gideon had to obey God’s commandment as a sign of faith and commitment. There are things that are still oppressing people in our time, which should be destroyed. This is the right time to do away with them. The challenges with some Christians are that even as they forsake Satan, yet still they fail to submit themselves to God’s authority. But the Spirit of the LORD clothed Gideon, and he sounded the trumpet, and the Abiezrites were called out to follow him (34): Whoever God calls, he provides with her or him with all the necessary for the service he calls her or him for. Gideon obeyed God and gathered a lot of men to fight the Midianites who had come to attack them and take away their possessions (34-35). As God was with Gideon, in the same manner, he wants to be with us to rescue us as we fight with the world, the flesh, and Satan (Jer. 33.3). Consider: God rejoices over goodness and generosity. (Heb. 13.16).
