Sunday 11th May Galatians 5.1-12
Qn. 6
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love (6): Paul kept on asserting that basing one’s faith on circumcision would mean becoming again slaves to the law; when in reality no one has ever managed to fully observe all the laws. God provided only one way to salvation, and that is faith in Christ. Those who take the way of circumcision separate themselves from Christ and despise God’s grace conferred through his Son (Rom. 3.23-24). Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love (6, Eph. 2.8-10). And the one who is troubling you will bear the penalty, whoever he is (10): Paul warns the Galatians making it clear to them that false teachings have detrimental results, as they are like a little leaven that leavens the whole lump. Those who give troubling teachings will be punished. As a matter of fact, a righteous person must be characterized by truth in all her or his words. Prayer Request: Let ask God to help us to safeguard true teachings (Titus 2.1). Song 184 (Praises).
