Friday 29th August Job 11.1-20
Qn. 1, 3
“But oh, that God would speak and open his lips to you (5): Zophar has very harsh words, he calls Job a man full of talk (2), an arrogant person and a mocker (3), and a liar (4). It’s not advisable to say such words to a hurting person, whom you are supposed to comfort. It’s being irrelevant and that would make the person much worse. However, praise God that he is at the side of Job (Rev. 2.9). There are a lot of teachings which lead people to accuse instead of comforting others. We must take heed of Jesus’ teachings, because all he wants is for us to become one (Jn. 17.11). “If you prepare your heart, you will stretch out your hands toward him (13): The advice to Job is not bad, but what should he repent of by the way? His pain is not a result of sin, what could be done anyway? (James 4.7). All security, wealth, and joy are found in Jesus alone. There are people who think that they see, and yet who are blind (Mat. 23.16-19). The speech of Zophar is full of terrible mistakes in regard to teaching. The Bible doesn’t mention anywhere that a righteous will not incur any tragedy. Prayer Request: Let’s pray for those evangelists who teach that receiving Jesus prevents people from suffering (Job 7.1).
