Friday, 12 July 1 Timothy 4: 1-16 Qn. 1,3
For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come (8): Physical exercise is good for everyone, whereby even as Christians we should take care of the health fitness of our body. Paul emphasizes the importance of training the soul rather than training this finite body (1 Cor.15.54). It’s unfortunate how most people concentrate more on the physical part which stays for a short time compared to the spirit that has to last longer. It’s absurd to hear that when the spirit quits, the body decays right away. But set the believers an example (12): This is the definition of a perfect Christian, who is exemplary in everything; in word and action, his attitude, how he relates with others, and what he believes, taking the lead for the others to follow. For by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers (16): The relevance of a Christian is not limited to himself, he needs also to be considerate of others. In your daily life, do you remember to pray for those around you, or do you remain indifferent, while there are many who are worried that you may be able to comfort and strengthen them? Consider: God has put you where you are, so strive to change it for the better, fight and deter all the ways that sin would enter you. Song. 371 (Praises).
